molecules on the surface of the liquid have fewer molecules to interact with, or liquids tend to minimize their srface area, or items with densities lower than water will sink due to surface tension, or increased intermolecular forces increase surface tension, or all are TRUE. Please help me with explaination if possibleWhich statement about surface tension is false?
Your 3rd stmt is false.
Anyway surface tension is not at all a reason for an item to sink. It is one of the reasons for an item to float.Which statement about surface tension is false?
im pretty sure it's the sinking one
the first is TRUE
the second is TRUE
the third is weird
the last is TRUE
i'm going by process of elimination...
i'd say that ';items w/ densities lower than water will sink due to surface tension'; is the incorrect statement.
simply for the fact that in order for an item to sink, it has to be *heavier* than water, %26amp; therefore more dense.
anything beyond that, i dunno. sorry.
